Haha, it's definitely an uncomfortable concept to think about, but in the end what is Steemit? And is the groupthink of dusty ol' CIA spooks in D.C. somehow better? Believe it or not I'm going to have to go with the Steemians on this one.

Lol. I totally get it man.

everybody that uses Din's Fire is going to have to use their own critical thinking to suss out bias in analysis created by other users on the network; having sources and methodology available on the blockchain is going to make that so much easier

and echoing @rebelskum, better Steemers than Deep State hacks!

'Bias' has gotten a bad rap lately. What the world needs is a lot more bias. People should have an intractable bias for morality, for goodness,

Probably the best argument for bias. If you're going to be adamant about common decency I for one won't put up a fuss.

no problem with that, but we need to clearly present our bias while analyzing and presenting data...as long as we have different cultures we are going to have different morals

Morality isn't subject to culture.

Muslims in Europe that sexually assault Western women certainly think they are being moral. Liberals think that calling people racist over political disagreement is moral. Actual racists think that intermarraige between people with different skin colors is immoral.

What you and I consider to be moral is dependent on our upbringing, cultural setting, and personal research

Ah. To be capable of such reframing (well, it would be reframing for me) is truly a worthy goal.

It's a hard thing for me on this one; I believe in absolute truth and morality; I understand that people believe what they have been taught is the basis of morality; the most effective way to change that is via a universal moral code; it's hard to set a standard moral code without use of force, and finally bringing it home, that using force to make others believe what you believe is immoral...yes, my head hurts after writing that ;>

Everyone believes what they do is good or right or just or whateve other value judgements don't mean 'bad'. But that doesn't mean that it is, nor does it mean it's open for interpretation. Morality is absolutely not relative, it is not situational. You proved it yourself by your own example: rape IS immoral, regardless of culture or any other variable. Thst is an absolute; an axiom mathematically.
