  • Acer Swift X 14

Acer's Swift X 14 is a laptop that embodies two key trends of CES 2023: the increasing availability of OLED displays and the use of newer and faster hardware from Intel and Nvidia.

The laptop comes with an optional 14-inch OLED screen that has a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and VESA DisplayHDR 500 certification. It's a beautiful display and, despite being a relatively small laptop, the Swift X 14 also includes Nvidia RTX 4050 discrete graphics and Intel's 13th-gen Core H-Series processors.

Additionally, the laptop includes a high-resolution 1440p webcam. With a starting price of $1,099.99, the Swift X 14 will be available in April and is a budget-friendly alternative to more expensive 14-inch workstation and gaming laptops.

  • Acer Predator Helios 300 Spatial Labs Edition

Acer's SpatialLabs View PCs offer glasses-free 3D on LCD screens, which is similar to Nintendo's 3DS but on a larger screen and at a higher resolution. Originally targeted at professionals, Acer also made the technology available to gamers with the Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition.

While the laptop itself is not new, the SpatialLabs TrueGame's 3D Ultra mode is an innovation. It addresses issues that were present in earlier versions of the technology, such as blurring or incorrect depth perception of interface elements and text. I had a great time playing Forza Horizon 5 on the SpatialLabs display. The glasses-free 3D effect is convincing and made me feel as if I was playing with a slot car set or controlling a fast RC car.

  • Asus ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED

Asus's ProArt StudioBook 16 3D OLED is another laptop that offers glasses-free 3D. It features a 16-inch 3.2K OLED screen with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz and, like Acer's Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition, it can deliver glasses-free 3D with the flick of a switch.

Both laptops rely on technology developed by Dimenco, but the Asus OLED display offers better contrast and a wider color gamut. In my experience, the image quality on the Asus laptop was superior to Acer's. However, Asus seems to be focusing more on professional use and may be behind Acer in terms of game compatibility.

The ProArt StudioBook is a powerful laptop, featuring Intel's 13th-Gen Core H-Series processors, Nvidia RTX 40-series graphics, and up to 64GB of memory. It also has dual Thunderbolt 4 ports for connecting multiple high-bandwidth peripherals and a dial control near the touchpad for quick and easy scrolling through video timelines or color palettes.

The Asus ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED will be available in Q2 2023, but pricing has not yet been announced.
