El Coronavirus y los artistas / The Coronavirus and the artists

in #cervantes5 years ago

Hello dear friends, I hope you are very well!

Today I did not wake up with the desire or time to write here on Steemit but basically the suspension of all activities for today and the following days made me think and I ended up having the necessary time, but I did not do it until the drop that exceeded the glass was to see and hear so many orchestras, artists, all united for a single reason; The good of all of us. So today I am going to tell you a little about what I see from the inside and outside of the issue of the Coronavirus and the artists.

This virus is one of the few in many years that affects us greatly, because all of us who make a living in something interfered with us, absolutely all of us, let us have the work we have, as a large part have "days off" for prevention.

One of the things I had recently thought about (mostly on the way to rehearsals with the orchestra, which is where you run into reality the most) was how it would affect street workers, those who sell things at a lower price on trains, subways, etc., but I had never thought that we artists would also be affected so much, because right now I don't have activities with the orchestras, they have all been suspended. The Kirchner Cultural Center closed its doors until further notice, and so did the Colón Theater, and so did they, other cultural sites.

An artist, specifically a musician, has a double-edged sword in these cases and it is the simple fact that we cannot attend our rehearsal place ... It seems that everything is going well, right? A sudden "vacation" ... But the problem is that not all orchestras pay you if it does not have activities, not all of us have that privilege. And not everything ends there, because there are many musicians (and artists in general) who are not part of any entity where they do their work, but rather earn daily, going to their only workplace; The street.

Street musicians have the power to decide whether or not to go to work (many do not have hours), but what if you can't go for more than 2 weeks? What profit would you have those 2 weeks? It is a very delicate subject, and I mention it this way because I have also had to play on the streets for economic reasons.

Coming out of all these not so good points and nothing in favor of us musicians, it is time to see the good ones ... We are joining a lot.

Today I saw a live on Instagram of one of my favorite artists, the Spanish singer-songwriter "El Kanka", where he did a small one-hour concert and never stopped mentioning that we should take care of ourselves, reminding us that we should stay home if we feel bad, etc ... It is amazing how much we come together. There is also the case of the Berlin Philharmonic which gave 30 days of free access (with a free code) for its concert page. All to prevent those who should not come out and to take care of each other.

Artists are sensitive people, because art sensitizes us a lot and it is in moments like these that we are most noticeable, or rather, we must make it noticeable.

Today I am not going to leave you a video, since honestly I have not had the time to record any, but I plan to make a short of a piece to also contribute a grain of sand for everyone, especially for this beautiful community.

Take good care of yourself, take care of others. We continue reading later around here, good health to all!

Yep... it really hurts! I have now a month long "vacation"... All my concerts cancelled immediately from Friday as the NL went into restrictions on gatherings of more than 100 people. A whole month of lost income.... Ouch! Still, it is time to learn many other things and I was expecting this to happen, so we have a little bit of a buffer... but if it continues for more than a month... well, it could start to get a bit tricky!

I totally understand you. It is a "break" that we do not know until when it will be and a low blow. But I am sure that everything will pass quickly, and we will be much better! Hug, artist friend!
