CENTRAL PARK: A destination you certainly shouldn't miss if you're visiting New York City.
A trip to New York City is the experience of a lifetime. For those who don't know, Central Park is an urban park in New York City between Fifth Avenue and Eighth Avenue and running from 59th Street to 110th Street. It's an urban park and it receives around 42 million visitors annually and stays open all year.
In Central Park you can find squirrels, chipmunks, raccoon, opossums and many kinds of birds (like ducks, geese, robins, blue jays, orioles, cardinals, warblers, king lets, scarlet tanagers, downy woodpeckers, titmice, falcons, hawks, owls… and of course the ubiquitous pigeons).
Central Park contains 92.8 kilometers (58 miles) of pedestrian paths, 7.2 kilometers (4.5 miles) of bridle trail, 10.4 kilometers (6.5 miles) of Park Drive.
The longest loop that you can make in Central Park without repeating any terrain is 9.8 kilometers (6.1 miles).
The Park contains seven man-made lakes and ponds and it has over 9,000 benches which would stretch 7 miles if placed end to end.
Visitors to New York City are often impressed with its beauty and size, making it a wonderful place to enjoy a bit of relaxation and get a better sense of what it's like to live in New York City. It's a great place for picnicking, listening to music and exploration with many fun, free events, particularly in the summer.
It's certainly a MUST in your NYC places guide!
