#CELESTIALCHALLENGE-• Thursday - Forces in Nature - Tornadoes
Tornadoes
Tornadoes are the most violent storms of nature, can cause deaths and devastate neighborhoods in seconds. Tornadoes are a funnel-shaped spinning cloud that extends from the thunderstorm to the ground and has swirling winds that can reach 300 miles (just over 480 km) per hour. The damage left in its path can exceed 1 mile (1.6 km) wide and 50 miles (slightly more than 80 km) long. All states have a certain risk of tornadoes. Some tornadoes are clearly visible, while others are not clear due to rain or low clouds. Occasionally, tornadoes develop so rapidly that they can be noticed with little or no anticipation. Before a tornado hits, it is possible for the wind to calm down and for the air to be very still. A debris cloud can mark the location of a tornado even when a funnel is not visible. Tornadoes are usually formed near the "tail" of the storm. It is common to see that the sky is clear and sunny behind a tornado.
The United States is the heavyweight in terms of tornadoes. We have seen everything in movies, news and other media. But is it really the thing for so much? Yes, definitely. As shown by the data obtained by two researchers specialized in these natural phenomena, 75% occurs in a very specific area of the United States.
Until a next post. have a nice day.
