in #celestialchallenge7 years ago (edited)

The #celestial challenge is run by @sirknight and today's topic is Man Made Structures.
I'm sure we must have all heard about the seven wonders of the world. Structures made during ancient times that were truly remarkable. They include :

  • Great Pyramid of Giza.
  • Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
  • Lighthouse of Alexandria.
  • Mausoleum at Harlicanassus.
  • Statue of Zeus at Olympia.
  • Temple of Artemis at Ephesus.
  • Colussus of Rhodes.
But among these seven wonders only the Great Pyramid of Giza still exists today. The rest having been destroyed or lost with time.

So a list of the New seven wonders of the world was released in 2007. This list includes:

  • Great Wall of China: First built in the 7th century, the great wall is made mainly from stone and bricks. It has been rebuilt several times and more walls added to it since the 7th century to become what we see now. It was used mainly for defense, to protect china from its enemies and it is 21,196 km long.
