Daily Celestial Challenge: Forces of Nature- Gravity
Hi everyone, today on #celestialchallenge initiated by @sirknight i will be writing on #forcesofnature Gravity to be specific.
What is a Force of nature?
A force of nature is any natural occurrence that is outside of human control. Some events like hurricanes and tsunamis spring to mind.
There are currently four(4) major known forces of nature namely; "gravity", "electromagnetism", "strong interaction", and "weak interaction".
GRAVITY
It may come as a surprise but gravity is actually the weakest of these four major forces even though it covers the largest area.
What is Gravity?
If you say Gravity is the attraction between the earth and matter on the earth, you won't be wrong, but you wouldn't be entirely right either.
Gravity does not just exist between the earth and us. Gravity exists between everything, everywhere in the universe. It is a force that attracts any two bodies or masses to eachother.
What are some effects of gravity?
Gravity has many effects, some of which include;
Gravity majorly keeps things together.
Gravity creates orbit. This can be seen in the interaction between the sun and the earth. The sun attracts the earth to itself whill the earth tries to do the same to the sun but due to the major difference in size, the earth begins to orbit.
Gravity creates tides and waves. Due to the gravitational push and pull relationship between the earth and the moon, tides and waves occur. This also leads to a phenomenom known as "tidal heating".
Gravity creates both stars and planets.
