DailyCelestialChallenge - Thursday - ForcesinNature
Hi my friends of steemit, today in the #celestialchallenge started by @sirknight, I join this challenge and I present my first post about natural force with a South American wonder.
The Perito Moreno glacier is considered the eighth wonder of the world because of the spectacular view it offers.
The imposing mass of ice surrounded by endless forests and mountains is a spectacle that few want to miss. In fact, this place is, along with Puerto Madryn (Chubut) and Iguazu (Misiones), one of the most visited places in the country by foreigners and argentinian tourism.
The Perito Moreno is one of the many glaciers that form Los Glaciares National Park.
All form the Patagonian Continental Ice (17,000-kilometers long) which is one of the most drinking water supplies in the world. Is that 90% of the world's freshwater is found in glacial areas and after Antarctica and Greenland, is this region of Argentina.
Among the Earth's most dynamic and accessible ice fields, Perito Moreno Glacier, named in honor of the explorer Francisco Moreno, is the stunning centerpiece of the southern sector of Los Glaciares National Park. Locally referred to as Glacier Moreno, it measures 30km long, 5km wide and 60m high, but what makes it exceptional in the world of ice is its constant advance - up to 2m per day, causing building-sized icebergs to calve from its face.
It regenerates to destroy itself again.
Regarding the bridge that forms on the glacier, it is located on the Magallanes peninsula of Lake Argentino, in the south of the country, and is one of the few glacial formations that can be admired without danger, since the Glacier National Park, in The southern province of Santa Cruz, which receives more than 7,000 visitors a year, has access so that anyone can enjoy this natural wonder.
What makes this glacier unique and incredible is precisely its unusual natural spectacle, which consists in seeing how this bridge collapses, a phenomenon that began to be documented in 1917, and so far it has happened on 22 occasions, being that of 1966 the most spectacular of all, since it managed to reach a height of 32 meters, something that has not been repeated since then.
