Cappadocia is right in the center of Turkey and the region looks more like a science fiction movie set. With endless rock formations, hundreds and hundreds of houses were built excavating the slopes over the centuries. Entire cities, reminiscent of true anthills, appear and hide beneath the ground. Inside caves, many and many Christian churches still keep Byzantine frescoes.

Cappadocia was the capital of the Hittite empire up to 1,100 BC and an important province of the Roman Empire, with the right to be mentioned in the Bible. It is the land of St. George, which for Brazilians is one of the most revered saints in the country, is a stranger among the locals. The name Cappadocia, comes from "Katpatukya", which means "Land of the Beautiful Horses". With vast plains, great mountains and extinct volcanoes the region is perfect for tourists eager for history and leisure. The Yunak Evleri Cappadocia Cave Hotel is in Urgrup and is a luxurious structure that includes six houses dug into the mountain in the 5th and 6th centuries and still a huge Greek mansion built in the 19th century. The place, besides being perfect to stay, serves as a base for incursions into underground cities and nearby centennial churches.

The facilities at the Yunak have been renovated and refurbished, retaining the original work but receiving all that today's comfort and amenities can offer. In total there are 30 beautifully decorated rooms with handmade objects and antiques, many wonderful antiques. A labyrinth of corridors and stone stairs lead to incredible environments in the best Ottoman style. All rooms have exclusive patios with spectacular views. In the large stone mansion, there is a fantastic music room, stocked by a gigantic collection of cds. Wi-fi and computers with internet connection plus a cozy home theater also mingle with Turkish rocks, marbles and curtains.

The restaurants offer centuries-old delicacies of recipes, but always of the highest quality and one of the incredible options is to dine al fresco, both in public areas and on exclusive patios. It is in outdoor settings that one has one of the most impressive views of the region: the sunset that resembles red flames of fire. An incredible idea for those who enjoy tradition and history, but do not give up comfort and taste. Do not miss it.
