Happy Caturday from Curator Cat! What are YOU Doing to Build Your Steemit Presence?
Greetings Hoomans and Felines of SteemLand! Hope this final weekend of March finds you all happy, healthy and enjoying spring. Or fall, as the case may be, if you're living way down south, somewhere!
Of course it's Saturday, which means CATURDAY, which is my favorite day of the week... although the Hoomans here insist that all days here are basically Caturday... because everything is pretty much "about the cats."
There's something interesting outside the window...
Building Your Presence
If you're relatively new to our community as you read this, you might sometimes be thinking why do I even BOTHER? and find yourself wondering what it takes to be seen and build your presence here.
There really isn't a "magic pill."
One of the things I do believe happens is that newcomers end up with a slightly skewed perspective because they feel that things here are somehow different, because there are rewards involved.
And that's perhaps where things start going awry.
Wait a minute... WHAT's going on here? (Pan right)
It's STILL Social Media!
I have found it useful to consider the following idea:
"How would I build my presence if there were NOT any rewards involved?"
Pretty much the same way you would if you were on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, twitter or somewhere else:
Try to be interesting and unique, interact with lots of people and (preferably!) try to become part of a sub-community and/or interest group that's actually interesting to you, and holds your attention!
That's pretty simple, really.
Look at me, I am a cat! I like cats and cat content, so I tend to post cat-related content, and I seek out and interact with others with similar interests, or things I just find interesting. Sometimes I also get involved in discussions about what's important to the overall community, and make "informative" posts like this one, in the hopes they might be useful to others.
Look, BeBe's on the counter! She's not supposed to be there! Oh... wait... I'm on the counter, too....
WHY Do People Get on Social Media Platforms?
Of course, I am oversimplifying; people have lots of reasons for joining social media communities. Some of them even involve indirectly "making money," as the extension of promoting and generating awareness for a brand, product, service or even a person.
But mostly, we have purposes that are pretty far removed from focusing on what will be the value of THIS post?
And that's something I tend to recommend letting go of, to make room for focusing on bigger pictures and bigger goals.
And — to be perfectly blunt about it — if your reason for becoming part of this community is that you need to "make money for rent," you should really go get a job flipping burgers, not pretend you're going to "make a living" making posts here!
So, I encourage you to figure out why you are here, and then have some fun, for Goodness' Sake!
Hope everyone is having a beautiful day!

Happy Caturday, BeBe and Shadow! Silly hoomans, thinking anywhere is off limits to cats.

Indeed! Cats do not understand such terms as "off limits." Those are just nonsense words for "unexplored territory."
=^..^=
I am at the "Why Bother Stage"........... I never have been big on the Interactive Social part of life. I would rather keep to myself, and be with the Kits. I really do not like people in general.
So pimping myself out on social media of any kind really has no appeal to me. Not good for the "Building My Presence" part of the deal huh....? Guess I better get to "flipping the burgers"
So I will just fall back on this "Mug Shot".......... Now that face is the Magic Pill.....lol
!sneeze I try not to spread the disease but cough cough engagement is contagious 😷
Yes, engagement is definitely contagious... which is why I value interaction almost as much as original posts around here!
=^..^=
I can see that you are present everywhere even on the kitchen table! A strong personality not only in Steemit :D
A cat must keep up with what is going on in its environment, and that also includes being aware of all things on the counter. Including myself,... on the counter!
=^..^=
Looks like they both would like to make lunch for you LOL that'll be the day....
Great post, beautiful photos and wonderful advice! You will be a minnow before you know it.
You have been infected by the King of Disease!
Will you quarantine yourself?
Or will you spread the plague?
