New Relationship

This little ray of sunshine is the newest member of our family, Rolo. My boyfriend and I weren’t planning on getting a kitten, but the way the universe brought him to our attention, couldn’t be ignored. 

We were working May Fest in Pilot Mountain on Mother’s Day weekend promoting the launch of our apparel company, Veritees, a line of clothing focused on bringing alternative truths to conscious awareness.  It was the last night of a 3 day event. Enthusiasm was low through the long hours and exhausting heat. It was getting dark and I was feeling particularly down knowing I had a week of work ahead of me as we began hastily breaking down in an effort to get the F outta there. I ran across the street to throw away trash and was startled by a voice coming from behind me. “Hey, you wouldn’t happen to want a kitten?,” a young man asked. “He’s the last one and I can’t keep him.” “Um, um” I delayed while looking at my boyfriend knowing I was more than interested. “Fine” he said with a smile.  The young man excitedly ran off and returned with a little box. I looked inside to see the sweetest, tiniest orange kitten. For me it was love at first sight. 

Dehydrated and frightened, we brought him home. The poor little baby had fleas, ear mites and worms; which we treated. He fell asleep in my lap while I gave him Reiki and nursed him back to wellbeing. Rolo is now happy, healthy and full of life. I’m forever grateful for all the forces that came together to bring this relationship into our experience and making me a kitten mom on Mother’s Day.
