Cats understands and copy the owners reactions
They like their owners so much that they pay close attention and imitate their habits. And not only that. It's observing the owners reactions and expressions that them perceive the world - and discovers how they should react to the news.
The conclusion is from an Italian study. The researchers invited 24 cats and their owners to see if the animals were paying attention to the reactions of humans. Each pair was placed in a room with a fan filled with green plastic ribbons. The only escape from the room was where there was a screen and a camera. "The idea was to avail whether cats was using the emotional information provided by owners about an unknown object to guide their behavior," the survey said.
For this, upon entering the room, the owners watched the fan in a neutral way. They then showed a negative reaction (fear, remotion of the object) or positive (happiness) - always looking from cat to fan and fan to cat.
In 79 percent of the time, the animals watched the object and the owner, as if trying to understand what was happening. When the expression was negative, the animals began to look more to the screen, where the only exit was. "It was the only possible way out. So looking at the screen and then at the fan suggests that the cats were worried and wanted to find a way to get away, "concludes the survey.
That is why you need to pay more attention to your reactions. If you feel scared or angry, your cat may notice. And remake the same feelings and actions.
