A New Vatican
As of today, I am declaring myself as the pope of the Roman Catholic Church in opposition to the current establishment residing in Vatican City. The crimes committed by the church have gone unpunished for too long. I stand in solidarity with those harmed by the actions of the church--from antiquity to the modern era. The lack of accountability the Catholic institution has faced is appalling. From inquisition, to exploiting the poor, to wide spread sex abuse, the church continues to hide behind the shield of religion to excuse itself from responsibility.
Let me be clear, I do not mean to single out Catholicism as the only offender of this sin; so too Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and other nations hide behind their religion to justify a laundry list of human rights abuses. We must stop them them all, but my focus is the Catholic Church. In Catholicism, it is tradition to oppose the established order by declaring oneself as the anti-pope. A political opposition to the Power corrupts the "holiest" among us. It is not the "Devil" or some other supernatural tempter who convinces these individuals to commit the most unholy of acts, it is the power that humans give them. We are incredibly arrogant to dress up our Pope in gold trim like a Christmas tree and parade him through the streets. This cheap idol worship of a man who apologizes for pedophiles is insulting.
In addition to this brief criticism, I would also urge the Italian government to annex the Vatican as an international criminal organization, and add as a general reminder that religious practice and morality are not synonymous.
This is more an introduction to my beliefs regarding the abuse of power around the globe. I am making this channel's purpose to shine a light on the lesser discussed abuses around the world such as the atrocities committed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the genocide in Myanmar, and other such crimes ignored by the corporate controlled press.
