Letters from Cupid

Dear Cats of Steemit and all Human Steemit kind,

You already know about my brother Merlin. He is the one roaming the local alleyway until late at night together with our feline neighbour Alfie. He doesn’t groom himself much; he says he hasn’t got time for such meaningless activities. He regularly refuses to take his medicine for his arthritic knee and human says he’ll end up with a peg leg soon. He also likes to hunt and kill insects of various sizes, rummage around in kitchen cupboards, steal stuff and ‘talk’ a lot to my human.... very, very loudly. He is not really deserving of his name; he is more of a pirate than a wizard, if you ask me.

I would say that I am a lot more civilised than him. I prefer the fine art of sleeping, eating and trying to sit on my human’s head, when human is asleep. In fact, I consider it my duty to follow my human around everywhere, all day long. Whilst I like to pretend to hunt in order to entertain my human, prancing around aimlessly and clumsily, like an elephant in a ballet class, I sure as hell never catch anything. Well, I once did.... by mistake. Itsy bitsy spider lost a leg in the ordeal. Obviously I did apologise immediately, but it was fairly traumatising for the both of us, and I decided that I better leave all the ‘dancing’ to the more agile and light-pawed amongst us.

In fact, to ensure that I don’t step on any more insect folk, I have decided that I demand for my human to carry me around everywhere. One can never be too careful and being carried is just a much more efficient way of transportation. I can survey my kingdom from above and watch out for those common animal folk below me. My name is Cupid, I am a God after all.
