Automotive: Less Sales, Maserati Levante Factory Reduce Working Hours
The problem of production is indeed one of the old issues in the case of automotive, if the hard sell pivot, but if not sold production stopped. It is natural that such conditions occur in the case of manufacturing. Well, if in Indonesia Mitsubishi factory is trying hard to increase the amount of production, another case with the Maserati factory in Turin, Italy.
Maserati Mirafiori factory in the city of Turin, Italy itself is a factory that manufactures SUV manufacturer trident logo. Yap, Maserati Levante is a commodity assembly of the Maserati in this factory since 2016 ago. Well, as we know, Maserati Levante is not a typical car that sells like a fried potato. Sales from Maserati Levante itself tend to those who do have savings with high limit and also understand the quality of this car case. With this condition, the market niche of the Maserati Levante is not great, and it certainly does not require a highly active plant operation to meet its stock.
And this is indeed understood by the parent of the Maserati FCA that shelter. FCA's own party has reorganized their production process at Maserati Mirafiori factory to adjust to the demand from its customers. FCA itself has also announced that until July 2018, the FCA will cut the working hours at this Maserati factory as much as 59%. Any impact? Obviously there is, according to FIOM Union, temporary decisions from Maserati itself will make 2,080 jobs lost. And due to reduced working hours, as well as clock-based salary counting, the workers at the Maserati plant will earn less.
Actually there is something interesting with the policy of this FCA, where what they are doing today is contrary to what echoed by FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne in 2014 ago. At that time, Marchionne said that the FCA presented their five-year investment plan, and ensured that its workers would be fully employed at this Maserati plant in Italy until the end of 2018. Well, in the Detroit Auto Show 2018 last month, Marchionne revised his statement by saying that the FCA took more time to adjust to the circumstances.
Surely we hope the FCA can provide the best policy, not only for the future of Maserati itself, but also for the workers who rely on them. What do you think are friends?
I noticed that Maserati interiors just suck for the price that you pay to get one. but exteriors are very clean
