It’s been just over a month since the Koenigsegg Agera RS driven by Niklas Lilja broke 5 world speed records for a production car in Nevada, USA. We’d like to share some more video from this amazing event with you.

This clip was shot using GoPro cameras placed inside the car and it provides a little more perspective on this record-breaking run. This video was shot as Niklas drove the Agera RS to its highest speed of the day – 457.94 km/h (284.55 mph).

A couple of notes from the video:

  1. People have asked why Niklas was ‘slow’ to take off. This was a top speed record, not an acceleration record. The engine was going to be around its redline for a considerable time in the quest for top speed. We had plenty of road to work with, so there was no need to place any additional stress on the engine by accelerating hard in the early stages of the run.

  2. Full throttle arrives when Niklas gets just over 300 km/h. Watch the rapid progress of the speedometer between 300 and 400 km/h.

  3. We were very pleased with the stability of the car at speed. This is a public road, not a silky smooth track. The Agera RS remained very stable even at the highest speeds. Niklas only had to control the car. He never had to fight it.

  4. At the fastest section of the run, Niklas was covering just over 416 feet, or 127 meters, per second. If you need an indication of just how dangerous it is to attempt a record like this, have a look at how narrow the road is, especially at that speed.

  5. From around 1:27 into the video, you can hear the car bouncing off the rev limiter, which it continues to do for about 9 seconds until Niklas lifts off and starts decreasing speed.

Enjoy!
