Oh that makes perfect sense then, though Leyland did make a 6 cylinder engined car in the UK, the princess, 2.2L also the Wolseley 2.2 hl
and Morris 2.2 hl.
Those I mentioned had the E series engine in them.
Yes you are correct, though Leyland Australia engineered the E6 motor first in 2.2l as you mentioned then made the 2.6l version. Only the 2.2l was used in the UK. Leyland Australia was still first to use the E6 in the Austin Tasman and Kimberley X6 range basicly a very much updated Austin 1800. The Austin Tasman & Kimberley were the first cars in the world to have an east west straight 6 engine they were available in 1970.
