1907 - Brooklands opened in England - the first permanent racetrack in the world.
Brooklands - a racetrack in Great Britain, near Weybridge in Surrey, founded in 1907, as the first permanent racetrack in the world.
The track was built by the wealthy English aristocrat Hugh Fortescue Locke-King in the areas called Brooklands, from the name of the twelfth-century nobleman Robert de Brook. The inaugural race took place on June 17, 1907. Until the outbreak of World War II, many prestigious Grand Prix races were held at the Brooklands circuit and speed records were beaten. The track had an oval shape and contoured arches. During World War II, he was bombed and after the war he was only used by the air force and the Vickers company. Badly neglected, he gradually fell into disrepair.
Currently, the track is being restored to its state before World War II. It is maintained by a motorization museum created in 1987 and an association that is headed by Stirling Moss. The facility is also used by Daimler-Benz. It organizes tests of new car models and occasional oldtimers' events.

The Bentley Brooklands model name comes from the track name.
British Count Louis Zborowski tried his way on the track.
During the inaugural race the wife of the founder of the circuit - Ethel Locke-King - started, which at the automobile's Itala reached a speed of 90 mil / h, at the then permitted speed of 32 miles / h.
In 1926, the first British Grand Prix races were held at the Brooklands circuit.
In 2010, it was possible to buy the track for ownership thanks to Banking on Brooklands.
