 What are they? do you even know they are?


Well, let me ask you on your retro car knowledge, especially this kinda retro curve, an itsy bitsy of history that took part on those time, you know, Capitalist rising, those aesthetic adds and all that, we only know a little, cause we're an Gen Z? anyone? so to put it.. We had to discuss this one, do we (you) need to know this? it depends and result may relatively different on how you gonna use it on the future, for me? I just keep doing what's I'm best at.

 So we heard so much about the special homologation car like the Lancia Delta S4 Stradale, Dauer 962, Renault 5 Turbo, Plymouth Superbird/Dodge Daytona, and many more that if it's written down here could waste the reader's time. From all the most noticed specials, there is one homologation special that is rarely heard among car enthusiasts including myself. And what this homologation special special is how they shared the same characteristics as the notoriously fast Lancia Delta S4 and it's from Japan from a pretty compact car. 


March

Nissan attempting to perform a performance jacking method to their compact car called March. The first generation Nissan March K10 (Micra in some place) was first released in 1981 sporting 930cc MA09 inline-4 engine. Back in 1987, Nissan held a one-make race called "March Little Dynamite Cup Race" with Nissan Micra available for rent with weight reduced, roll caged, and also twincharged. This kind of March known as March Super Turbo, 

released to the public in 1989 with 10.000 examples produced with 5-speed gearbox and more sophisticated engine named PLASMA-MA09ERT with turbocharger and supercharger capable on producing 81 kW/110PS to the front wheel, not forget that this March also equipped with Limited-Slip Differential. The race version weighted 620 kg but the production ones is on 770 kg — It's still lightweight! Take note that this car run from 0-100 kmh (0-60 mph) in 7.7 seconds.

 Bad? At that time it's pretty good y'know. But somewhere in that timeline, March Super Turbo is accompanied by another high-performing March, the March R, who shared the same engine, same layout, with the difference only on the interior. While the Super Turbo has a pretty normal interior, the March R represent a truly race car vibe to the cockpit thanks to its 4-point harness by Nismo and the racing steering as it's few of the most visible mods shown. It make sense when those two are actually intended for different role as the Super Turbo was purely for homologation, the March R are truly build for a customer demanded a race version of the March. Lancia might produce the Delta S4 Stradale but this March did it far better because of how much does it cost and how many produced. If today it could cost $8,500 bucks in America (¥690.000 on its homeland), it could be just a bit more expensive than today especially when at that time, Japanese catched an economic bubble.
