I think people spend way too much on their vehicles. Back in 1970 in the US the average car cost the average family about 40% of their annual income. Car loans were for only 3 years. Now there are a lot of people who spend a year's income on a vehicle. That's just insane.
I recently bought a 2011 Buick Lucerne. It's the best car in the Buick line and it's not made anymore. Mine was $18,000. It had less than 20,000 miles on it, AND I PAID CASH!!!
It's easier to save for your dream car when you have the previous one already paid for.
