Career history

Before going into this job 5 years ago Lewis had just finished sixth form not knowing what he wanted to do. Although he didn’t choose this career path originally regardless of that he grew to love it from there.

Lewis then went on to seek help from an apprenticeship company and they put him in for a few interviews, he then ended up landing at Apply4U.

The initial interview at Apply4U didn’t go well and he ended up doing work experience there for a month. During that time Lewis worked really hard by doing loads of dials every day to try and get demos booked in with the director of Apply4U, Irfaan Hussain.

By the end of that month, he managed to get a few demos booked in every day, and it was at this point that he was taken on board and landed a job at Apply4U as a level 3 recruitment apprentice.

6 months later...

During this time he did more demos and got those booked in with Irfaan and he was then promoted to senior consultant.

As part of this new role he took on he helped with the training of new people and then actually started to manage them as well.

Shortly after this Lewis started doing some demos independently and managed to close some clients, he even brought on board one of the largest clients that Apply4U had at that time, which was a large education agency.

1 year later...

Got promoted to managing consultant!

During that time Apply4U had some changes internally and Lewis began working on Harrisons' recruitment as well (a part of the Apply4U Group), as a recruitment consultant placing other recruitment consultants with large companies.

Again, Lewis made one of the largest placements that was ever done at that point through Harrisons Recruitment.

Since then...

Apply4u has grown from strength to strength. The platform was rereleased, our team grew out internally and since that point, we’ve brought on some of the largest companies in the UK.

What Lewis loves about his job?

• There is always something different to work on every day (e.g. new processes, new tasks, and new people that we are speaking with which always keeps it interesting).

• Helping people find a new job.

What Lewis doesn’t like about his job

Correcting people’s CVs isn’t always fun!

His career progression didn’t end there

Lewis was recently promoted to operations manager and in this role, he builds and improves on the Group’s processes, hires for the teams, manages them and leads them as well as seeing where else the company can be taken.

At the beginning of his career journey, Lewis was doing a level 3 recruitment apprenticeship and since completing that he is now doing a level 5 in operational department management. Apply4U as a business genuinely believes in continuous development and so supports its employees in any further learning they want to do.

I hope you enjoyed reading Lewis’s career profile and if you did leave a comment below.

If anything we hope what you can take away from Lewis’s story is that career progression through an apprenticeship is possible and you don’t have to go to university to get far in the UK anymore (although it can help).
