Carrer advice

Hi guys
I am a mechanical engineer trying to transition to the computer science field. I am more passionate about CS than my core field. Although inexperienced, the passion is real and I have been trying to teach myself the basic ins and outs of the subject. I am having a lot of fun learning new skills and would like to keep doing so.

The thing is that I am feeling a bit left behind and underequipped. I cant even get myself an internship to start at. I wish to hear from any of you who have gone through similar experiences. Should i keep going or should I change my approach?? Any feedback is welcome.

PS. I am 25 years old and living in India.
