Career Shift - Starting from scratch, starting anew

Recently, I have decided to quit my job working as a telecommunications engineer (for the past two years, fresh out of college) to work as an entry-level software developer. I believe that anyone who can still follow their passion should and for me this is mine even though it meant that I have to start from scratch

I would like to ask for any advice you can offer for new aspiring developers like myself.
