Very cool pics. There's a castle inside a castle? I want to go there!
As for Elvis - he was a super huge big deal here in the USA. Was he as big of a deal in the UK?
Also, the pic in the shoe shop is by far my favorite. It is such a quaint scene and seems to sum up the feeling of the area you visited.
Yes, Elvis was loved here as well. I've got a couple of the shoe shop, was kind of drawn to it. Yes, Cardiff castle is so big it has a castle inside it
I definitely need to see Cardiff then. A castle in a castle. Then we need a toy castle in that, with its very own toy castle inside.
@mattifer You should definitely visit Cardiff, the Castle is even more impressive on the inside and you can go to the top of the roof of the "castle in a castle". The castle was built on the site of roman fort and the remains can still be seen today. Castle Coch on the outskirts of town is also worth a visit "The Fairytale Castle"
The shoe shop you saw is family run and is called "The Brogue Trader" they sell top quality British hand made shoes with an emphasis on quality and service. Stop by and they'll give you a coffee or a beer while you browse. They spend their first shop (the one pictured) about 4 (ish) years ago and have rapidly expanded to ten stores across the UK and run by the whole family, Chris, Jo and their 3 grown up children. (Clearly I do know them and yes they do have an online presence if looking for top quality craftsman made shoes!!)
Come visit Cardiff, the Welsh people are very welcoming and if it coincides with a big sporting event at the stadium it's a great atmosphere ad marvel at the bilingual road signs haha.
That sounds like a whole lot of fun and history and bundled together. I'm fascinated by the castle in a castle on a fort! And how cool that the family business is prospering. So many craftsman-type businesses have failed with the advent of mass manufacturing.
