The new BMW X4 - seven engines and two sports versions

The Bavarians officially presented the second generation crossover
BMW has formally introduced the second generation of its X4 crossover. The premiere of the model in front of the audience will take place at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The modern model is larger than its predecessor, and it is significant. The length is increased by 81 mm and reaches 4752 mm and the width by 37 mm and is now 1918 mm. The distance between the two axles is 2864 mm, which is 37 mm longer than the first generation of the model.

The standard volume of the trunk of the BMW X4 is now 525 liters, and when the rear seats are down, it increases to 1430 liters. For the previous generation of the crossover, these sizes were 500 and 1400 liters respectively.

In the design of the new model is used more aluminum, and also high-strength steel. This allows not only an increase in strength but also a reduction in weight. The difference compared to the predecessor reaches 50 kg. depending on the modification.

After the generational shift, the X4 aerodynamic indicators were also approved. Thanks to the use of active elements in the radiator grille, the drag coefficient is reduced by 10% and now is 0.30. At the same time, the center of gravity is lower than the new X3.

In the range of modifications of the BMW X4 there will be two "inflated" versions of the M Performance - M40i and M40d. The first one will be released in August, with a 360-hp 3.0-liter gasoline turbocharger. and 500 Nm of torque. With it, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h will take 4.8 seconds.

The M40d will receive a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder diesel that will develop 326 hp. and 680 Nm. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 4.9 seconds. The maximum speed of the two "inflated" versions is electronically limited to 250 km / h.

These two cars will be distinguished from the rest of the suspension, exhaust, brakes, and rims. For both sports versions, a rear M-differential is also provided.

The second-generation engine of the BMW X4 comes with two four-cylinder gasoline engines with a capacity of 2.0 liters. They develop 184 and 252 hp. There are two 2.0-liter diesel - 190 and 231 hp as well as a 3.0-liter 265 hp diesel. All modifications feature a four-wheel drive xDrive and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
