Tips for installing car speakers

in #car7 years ago (edited)

Automotive sound systems often use a four-speaker configuration to offer a "quadraphonic" sound. Custom systems use six, eight or more speakers to improve audio quality, which are usually run on a four-channel system and then divided into high and low frequencies to be channeled to the right speaker. Installing the car speakers correctly will prevent damage and prolong its useful life.

Determine the speakers suitable for the application by comparing the watts (power) and ohms (resistance) of the stereo output when combined with the maximum power of the speakers, multiplying the specifications of each speaker by the number of speakers used. This is the most misunderstood reason for distortion, or lack of clean sound, when the stereo is in use. Most speakers will be rated at four or eight ohms, but some specialized equipment can operate at two ohms, or even a single ohm. The power of the speakers must be greater than the maximum output power of the stereo; for example, four 200-watt speakers could match an amplifier that puts less than 800 watts peak, since each speaker uses a maximum of 200 watts.

Wiring the new loudspeakers

Connect the loudspeakers with high-quality audio cables, most vehicle manufacturer’s use wiring harnesses automotive quality cables in their stereo systems of values. Higher quality wire guarantees less signal loss and more power to reach the speakers. High power systems require a thicker wire cable to accommodate the power. Too many watts through a cheap cable will cause it to heat up and melt. High-end sound equipment uses shielded coaxial cable instead of double insulated cables, since the solid core will have more power to pass through it.

Align the speakers

As the sound waves are produced, they mix with the sound waves of the other speakers and control the quality of the audio. Placement of the loudspeakers is important, and the placement of loudspeakers of the largest manufacturer of securities systems is generally based on space requirements, it does not sound. Aligning the speakers so that high-frequency audio is produced from the front, mid-level sound from the center, and low-end audio from the rear is the method employed by most of the designers of Audio systems for a natural and high-quality experience for someone in the center of the vehicle. Adjusting these speakers angle can cause the quality to change depending on the position of the seat, and may vary from vehicle to vehicle.
