Tata's new car: H5X

The Tata H5X SUV concept made its global debut at the Auto Expo 2018 (Read launch report here). The production model based on the flashy concept is likely to launch in India before April 2019. Derived from the platform that underpins the Land Rover Discovery Sport, the H5X debuts Tata’s new OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) platform. It features the Impact 2.0 design philosophy of the homegrown automaker. The H5X gets coupe-like silhouette, large pronounced wheel arches, daytime running LEDs, chunky looking tri-arrow housing on the bumper, skid plates, wraparound tail lamps with LED graphics and a dual-tone and rugged-looking bumpers.

Though there’s no official word on it, we expect it to borrow the 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel of the Jeep Compass. It is likely to be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox while a ZF 9-speed automatic (offered in many Jaguar Land Rovers) could also make its way to the H5X.
