Agbarho Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State was on Friday shutdown as the former Minister of Works, Maj. Gen. Orho Esio Obadah was laid to rest.

Commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators were not allowed to ply the roads for their day’s job.

Markets and commercial shops were also closed down as Security agencies took over the town while residents and visitors were forced to trek long distances.

NAIJALOADED learnt that the shutdown of the town was to honour the late former Minister of Works, Maj. Gen. Obadah.

The Senator representing the Delta Central Senatorial District, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, a member representing the people of Ughelli South/Ughelli North and Udu Federal Constituency, Hon. Ejiro Waive were amongst dignitaries who graced the events.

Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Olorogun David Edevbie paid glowing tributes to the late Maj. Gen. Obadah who he described as a “gentleman” that loved his people with passion.

According to Governor Okowa, “Maj. Gen. Obadah had integrity. He was a very, very strong-willed and disciplined individual. He was very honest. This is what we the younger traits should emulate. As a nation, the Urhobo people have lost a great man.”

Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege said the late Maj. Gen. Orho Obadah was a man with impeccable character who represented the Urhobo people adequately well in his military career during his time. He was a man of his words. He was a disciplinarian as well and he didn’t play with his customs and tradition. He was a shining example for us as a people to be proud of. We will miss him greatly.”

The Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Apex Social Cultural body of the people represented by Capt. Onoharigho and the Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union led by Chief Igho Monday Odivwri also paid tributes to the late Maj. Gen. Obadah.
