Woke up to meet this baby in my backyard

Saw this young fellow in my backyard today.
it's kinda hard to tell if it's a male or female cuz am not an expert in weed grooming.

I would like to know how it's been distinguished; I mean the male from the female and how I can grow them in my backyard since all the seeds I get from the weed I puff are almost all dead (they never germinate).
