RE: Pro-Cannabis Group Trolls Jeff Sessions By Putting His Face On Rolling Papers
you are of course right about the foolishness of prohibition as a government policy, prohibition is the abdication of regulation. This part is a little misleading though:
Not long after the Trump administration came to power, Sessions issued a memo making orders for law enforcement to reverse their growing policy of leniency towards cannabis users.
“Previous nationwide guidance specific to marijuana enforcement is unnecessary and is rescinded, effective immediately,” the memo stated.
It implies that somehow he did more than rescind a single memo and that somehow rescinding that memo had an actual effect on the legal status of cannabis and/or the enforcement of those laws. That is just not the case, although outlets like NPR declared rescinding that memo as "Jeff sessions crackdown on legalized marijuana" even their own guests pointed out that in fact this would have no effect because in fact, like it says, that memo was unnecessary, it was redundant. Thus eliminating it had little practical effect. He may be an elderly baby and someone who is insulting to pot smokers and opposes legalization but he has not actually cracked down on shit. So claims from the progressive media that there is a crackdown afoot are little more than fearmongering, trying to get potheads all paranoid and mad at Trump.
It is fair to point out that the usually the media blows things out of proportion, but as a pothead, any kinf of crackdown rhetoric tends to scare the hell outta me :-P
I appreciate your thoughtful comments as always
And that is why the NPR host continued to say the discussion was about "Jeff Sessions crackdown on legalized marijuana" even after both guests on the show had said there was no crackdown. I'll be the first one to cry foul in the event of an actual crackdown. If you are really concerned about the feds just put a Ganesh in the window of your dispensary, the Feds have never raided a dispensary with a Ganesh in the window, even back when they actually raided dispensaries.
