3 Easy Ways You Can Prevent Bud Rot In Your Weed
Rather than risk illness or waste any precious bud, preventing mold is one of the easiest ways to protect against bud rot.
1. Proper Storage
Molds and mildews develop in the presence of moisture. Therefore, it is important to keep dried cannabis in a dark, dry, and cool climate. Those that live in damp or humid environments may want to consider adding a food-grade desiccant package into a storage container.
Keeping the herb away from direct light is another way to prevent it from denaturing.
2. Check Testing Labels
If possible, opt for products that have been laboratory testing. Many states now have cannabis testing requirements that are similar to other agricultural products. When picking up from a dispensary or care center, a budtender should be able to discuss the testing results of the available strains.
3. Clean Pieces
Keeping smoking pieces and devices clean is important for preventing mold and corresponding lung infections. This is especially true for bubblers, bongs, and other water-based pieces.
Smoking devices that are exposed to condensation, like that in a cold, damp basement or a garage, may also be at risk for growing molds and mildews.
#1 Way?
HEPA filters on your intake fans, positive air pressure in your tent/room. My cannabis does not have any spores on it to germinate. Though you still need to be careful, it's significantly more difficult to get mold to spontaneously grow with humidity. :)
So clean, so smooth. ;)
