The city of Kansas just recently made the move to change the rules by updating the city code and removing penalties relating to possession or control of cannabis.

No One should be behind bars for cannabis.

Not for selling it, growing it, using it, possessing it etc. This is a victimless activity and people shouldn't have their lives ruined or standard of living drastically decreased because of their personal consumption habits or preference for growing herb.

Local lawmakers filed the measure last month that would seek to repeal a certain provision from city regulations that restrict certain cannabis possession or activity. If you have 35 grams or less now, then you will see a fine, and if you have more than 35 grams comes with a bigger fine.

Take Away Minor Drug Offenses

Let's hope that they don't stop there. That they keep going and others follow suit.

It's time to further reduce arrests and penalties related to petty offenses and stop filling up prisons with peaceful cannabis users and growers.

There are still federal and state restrictions in place and this doesn't mean that there is broad acceptance for cannabis in the region by any means. They want to free up police to put their resources toward focusing on other issues in the community and it is about time.
