The origin of the Halloween party has a long history, as it has been practiced for over 3,000 years. It emerged with the Celts, a people who were polytheistic and believed in several gods related to animals and the forces of nature.

On that day, it was thought, the dead rose and possessed the bodies of the living. In order to protect themselves from these bad spirits, costumes were worn and the gathering was filled with sinister objects.

The event was later denounced by the Church throughout the Middle Ages, giving rise to the name "Halloween."

In the Middle Ages, healers were viewed as witches and were executed at the stake for defying the beliefs of the Church.

Thus, the church altered the calendar so that All Saints' Day, which was formerly observed on May 13, was observed on November 1 in an effort to eliminate the festival's pagan roots.
