UN delegation to camp
A UN Security Council delegation (UNSC) reached the camp to hear the plight of Rohingyas.
Today, the 15-member delegation arrived at 9am on Sunday.
They will visit Konarpara Zero Point and Kutupalong Rohingya Camps of Tofbre border of Naikhongchhari up to 1pm noon. At the time, they talked with the Rohingya who fled to the Myanmar army's persecution.
Members of the delegation will visit the Kutupalong Rohingya camp after visiting Zero Point. Then they will return to Dhaka in the afternoon.
Foreign Secretary Rear Admiral (retd) Khurshid Alam welcomed the delegation at the airport. The representatives of the United States, Russia, France, UK and China are the permanent members of the 15-member delegation.
Among the other members of the delegation are permanent representatives of Bolivia, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland and Sweden and are deputy permanent representatives of Ivory Coast.
Returning to Dhaka on Monday, the delegation will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and then go to Myanmar for a two-day visit to discuss the Rohingya issue with the Myanmar authorities.
