Camel animal
The camel is a large, hoofed mammal known for its distinctive humps, which store fat and help it survive long periods without food or water. There are two main types:
1. Dromedary Camel – Has one hump, native to the Middle East and North Africa.
2. Bactrian Camel – Has two humps, native to Central Asia.
Camels are well adapted to desert environments, with features like:
• Long eyelashes and closable nostrils to keep out sand
• Thick lips to eat thorny plants
• Ability to go weeks without water, and drink up to 40 gallons at once
They’re also known as the “ships of the desert” for their ability to carry heavy loads across vast sandy terrain.
