Cheetah Africa was launched with a conference with focus on Fintech and Blockchain development in Africa. According to Nathaniel Luz (the Executive Director of Cheetah Africa), the organization is a non-profit entity with a mandate to be “the pool of African startups and innovations”. By also “providing them with the necessary support needed by these startups for global relevance, scalability and competitiveness”.

I was excited when I saw @lordjames’s post on Steemit about the conference. I google more about the organizers and the speakers coming to the conference. It looked solid and I mentioned this to @punqtured (Casper Niabe, Byteball’s Users Acquisition Manager). He was fascinated as well and we quickly chatted about a topic that can be presented at the event.

There were a lot of hiccups; tight schedules, little time to prepare, conference venue shift, travelling and sorts. But it was a successful execution from the Byteball team to get everything ready and sorted in less than a week. I represented Byteball and made a presentation on a topic titled BYTEBALL’S ICO PLATFORM: A CREATIVE ALTERNATIVE FOR AFRICAN STARTUPS.

We picked the topic because everyone in the cryptosphere and blockchain development understand how difficult, hard and stressful ICOs can be for startups in the industry. And Africa including Nigeria is a big market with massive startups sprouting daily and creating innovative solutions for sustainable growth and developments.

Byteball is an amazing and ready-to-use technology with many features. I became interested in the project when I found how innovative and useful Byteball’s techs can be to everyone including startups.

THE EVENT

The conference was on the 3rd of August, 2018 at the BWC Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos – Nigeria. The event was on the fifth floor, a well-furnished and adequately set venue by the organizers. I came in early to the conference and met some people for brief introduction.

The conference kicked off with a welcoming address from the founders of Cheetah Africa (Nathaniel Luz and Lucky Uwakwe). Introduction, visions and missions, future plans and roadmaps were briefly discussed by the speakers. It was a wonderful opening.

An interactive and networking session was shortly done. I got the opportunity to meet some other people from different teams and fields outside blockchain and cryptocurrency one-on-one and also introduced myself and Byteball (hello @stevedion 🤗!). It was hard explaining DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) and how it works to many people. Blockchain was the only thing most have heard about I guess…

Then, the CEO of KuBitx exchange, Eric Anan spoke about the state and potentials of the blockchain technology for the development of Africa. ‘Gbenga Sesan from Paradigm Initiative came on too and delivered his presentation which melt everyone and actually boost the morale of everyone.

Other speakers from other bodies like Paxful, Remitano, Dash, CvMetrics, CFAcoin, Kurecoin, Webercoin, Nortonchain, Nitroneum, BlockVibranium, and other startups presented their topics and products.

Lastly, the conference organizers treated everyone like a CEO with tasty foods and more than enough. I was seated with some fellow Steemians @ubongj and @lordjames. We chatted about Steemit, Byteball, blockchain, and life in general.

It was a wonderful experience for everyone at the Cheetah Africa’s Launch. The Speakers, the Participants, the Startups and also the organizers.
