My Experiences with the Byteball Airdrop

in #byteball6 years ago

In case you haven’t heard already Byteball is offering 1,000,000+ Steem users free Byteball Bytes. The announcement came out several days ago and you can read all about it here. (This page is really popular with many comments and it slows down the browser when it loads)

The program is still going strong but the initial terms and rewards had to be modified because of people gaming the system. You can read more on this here

Referral Program

Along with the Airdrop, Byteball is doing a very nice referral program so you can earn more Byteball Bytes by referring others.

If you use these links you can help me out:
https://steem-byteball.org/#I4DFPFSWUOYAS4D3VN3KJ5BFI74W3L62 (sets a tracking cookie and redirects to a wallet download)

You will need some initial funds to get your Airdrop reward so here is a link that you can use to get 0.0006 GB (Gigabytes) (This link can only be used once so you might post below if you use it so that others will know it has been used.)

Here is your link to receive 0.000600548 GB (≈0.08 USD): https://byteball.org/#textcoin?emotion-glare-auto-peanut-eyebrow-thing-item-split-since-pear-actual-margin

My thoughts

Now that the referral stuff is out of the way, I can let you know that I’ve successfully received my Byteball bytes from the Airdrop. The Byteball Steem Bot took a long time to answer at first and I had to remove it and then add it back to get a reply.

I used the Android wallet and it was a bit difficult to remove the Steem Bot for some reason. Perhaps the ‘edge’ menu was in the way or something, but anyhow I eventually figured it out with some, “stab, stab, stab, poke, poke, finger work.” In other ways the wallet has been working fine so far.

Right at the time the Airdrop was initially announced there were a few technical issues that you can read more about here. So my initial experience was a bit rough but hopefully yours will be better at this time.

I’ve been very excited so far at what I’ve been reading about how the Byteball system works. There is a lot of technical information out there about it and it scores very high on my personal geek++ list.

There are some bots in the wallet that seem interesting. I can see some real potential here for doing different things with bots and contracts.

Altogether I have a very positive impression of Byteball and I think this will be a very good addition to the Steem system.

Thanks for reading! I always value your support and comments. The pictures were taken by me with my Galaxy S9+

Thank you brother @lightsplasher, I am happy to do this, hope you can have a lot of dollars here.,oh yes my brother has a nice flower today may brother like.

Thanks @lightsplasher for this post. I saw it earlier on but have been slow with it.

The bytes link has been used. Not surprising. Can you possibly send another to my wallet to complete my attestation?

If you post a Byteball address after installing the wallet, I will send you enough bytes to get started. I might post another link you can use with more funds too.

Completed, got both. Thank you!

Nice! Your welcome and hopefully the attestation bot works well for you, it took some time for me but it was rather busy.

Really you are geving a very good information sharing with us. Thank you so much D :) @lightplasher for this post .

I hope you find things useful and get your free Byteballs. Please let me know if you need some bytes to get started.

Yes . I want to bytes. But how can used this ?

First you need to install the Byteball wallet then let me know your address and I can send you some bytes to get started. If you use the Steem Bot to register your Steemit user name you can get some byte rewards and I can get a referal reward too. The Steem Bot takes some bytes as a payment in order to register your Steemit name. There are more details about it in the first link in the post above.

Very good information. Thanks for sharing with us.

People were already gaming the system? Ugh! That is terrible. How can people take a free gift and corrupt it?

As an aside, I appreciate all the info put forth!

Tip!

Yup, people are always gaming the system, it's sort of kind of funny if you ask me and a bit of a vote of confidence from the hacker community about the possibility of the long term value of GBytes, LOL.

Don't these people know that your really supposed to charge straight into the gunfire and no fair hiding in the woods in camos? (Speaking of historically about gaming the system of course. LOL)

Actually, I do hope that people can find it easier to play along with things than try to game the system through unusual ways.

Hi @lightsplasher! You have received 0.1 SBD tip from @dswigle!

@tipU voting service | For investors.

I did mine on PC several days ago and had no issues. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes. Very smooth and very cool. Last I looked they had increased in value for me by 2 bucks lol! Are you going to hold on to yours? I don't know what else to do, so I guess I will hold on.

I'm hodling and actually purchased some small amounts off the exchange. The way it is setup could be a good long term investment imho.

One thing to think about is how much any particular coin pays the people who mine it and how efficiently it can move the blockchain. In the case of bitcoin for example, a great deal of investment has to continue to be put into the coin in order to maintain the price because of the block reward being paid to miners who use a great deal of energy to produce each block.

Byteballs doesn't have the payments for block rewards but there is more centralization involved in the blockchain which is another thing to consider.

In any case I'm mostly kind of interested in writing some bot code. I probably won't get to that for awhile since my days are spent mostly camping and other stuff. (Like contemplating my navel, LOL)

Thanks much for the explanation. I appreciate because I am a crypto noob! I do enjoy learning new things.

Yes I am trying to soak up as much outside air and sunshine as I can. We are well past our half way point for summer in Michigan and the winters are sooo long!

Oh! I have done a bit of contemplating my navel as well LOL!! Have a great weekend!

@lightsplasher the whole information is awesome but even though i think shoud make it little bit more easier as it sounds complicated too..As new users would be unable to understand this whole article as i think not only the new ones many of the old users also will find difficulty to understand the whole process..If possible try to make it more easier..And for this article I really Appreciate you..Thanks

The very first link at the top goes towards a very detailed and easier to read post on the entire process. It is a bit complicated and I'm not very good at explaining such things so I just put the link there and hoped that people would follow it.

@lightsplasher Thanks and i appreciate..

Thanks. I got it now... is there any way of work ti gain lots of bytes to income brother. And what is blackbytes.

At this point besides the airdrop and trading I am not sure how to earn income with it but that may change. Blackbytes are the privacy oriented coin that is difficult to trace if used properly.

Oh. Thanks for the information.

If I uninstall the bot will I lose my bytes?

You can safely remove the bot, it doesn't affect your existing Bytes, you can remove the bot even when the transaction is confirmed. Some bots that you have smart-contracts with, you can't remove yet (maybe in future).

I don't remove my bots because existing bots can also notify me when something changes (not many bots do that) or when you get reward for referral (you don't need to have bot installed to get referrals).

What I strongly suggest to do is Full backup because anything can happen and it would be bad if you loose your wallet for some reason and doesn't have backup.

Nice information, thanks. I'm really going to have to look into doing a full backup sometime before I drop my Galaxy S9+ out the car window trying to take a photo or something. :D

I don't think so but it would be best to wait for some time to see if the bot replies first. (Once I got my reward I left the bot installed so I'm not sure what would happen if I removed it now - I doubt it would remove my reward.) Funds that were in my wallet before I started the bot remained there after I removed the bot but I did not remove the bot during the process after I paid my fee with it, so I can't say for sure. (It's a good thing my job is not giving tech support, LOL)

Do reply please, what's the advantage in removing the bot?

The only reason I removed the bot is because I did not get a reply from it at first. Many people were trying to use it at once and it was very slow.
