Black and white photo contest: Travel: Entry two
My photo is of a very, very old western saddle with wood and leather stirrups!
I took a photo of this marvelous, thrown to the side, outside in a heap, very old saddle sitting in an old wooden boat. The colors are awesome but of course, this is a black and white challenge. I found it in Tempe, Arizona in 2006 but unfortunately I can't recall what make of Camera I was using at the time which may disqualify me from competition. I submit it anyhow as I like the photo and riding horses was one of our very first modes of transportation!
The top of the photo, you can see the old, wooden horn the cowboy would have held or wrapped his rope around. The view is from the top of the saddle. On each side, 3/4 of the way down, you can see the ornate but cracked wooden stirrup holders and leather. I wish I knew the age of this beautiful piece, would have loved to snatch it but I'm no theif and it wasn't my property.

It's a beautiful piece, @lolomarie... I can imagine the leather, and if you polish it, how it would look and feel... Nice job!
Thank you, I am thinking of posting the color version in my photos so people who would like to see it can, it's really beautiful. I don't know if it is beyond polish or not since I've never done leather work. That was 2006, if it is still outside, I'm sure it would way too far gone by now but hey, who knows?
You should post the colour too... Am sure it has got lots of character! I hope someone has cared for it even if it's outside. I love the smell of leather! :)
