Sand lilies in b&w.

A few days ago I posted about one of my favorite beaches in Crete and a beautiful flower that can be found there, every fall. You can read all about it here.

Today I'll share with you some of the pictures I took those days that have a minimalist tone, edited in b&w.

As you might have noticed, I used a strong telephoto lens, a rather unusual choice for pictures that can be described as macro photographs. And the truth is that the past two years, that I was shooting at the same location, I have used my 60mm macro lens as the most appropriate one. The concept come to me as I was looking some portraits, shot by @jarvie. He often uses telephoto lens and wide open aperture giving a really cool look to the portraits he takes and I thought to try something similar with those flowers.

What do you say? Was that a good call?

The pictures were taken by me with my Canon EOS 7D at 100 ISO and a Canon EF 80-200mm f/2.8 L lens attached.
