Buying back own shares from market
In recent few days there have been a trend that most of the cash rich companies are buying back the shares of the their own companies from the bourses where they are registered.
India leads the pack of the companies which are using the buyback of shares as the tool to return the surplus cash available with them to the Investors when they don't have acquisition plans.
It is one of the best options with the cash rich companies to reduce their capital base and improve the earnings per share.
Share buyback means the shares issuing company pays shareholders the premium (in most cases) in addition to market value per share and reduces the floating stock in the market to re-absorb the portion of its ownership.
