Butterfly Metamorphosis - Life Cycle
Every kind of species has it's own transformation. Butterflies are special in their cycle, It lives approx 12 months.
The Butterfly has many benefits:
- Natural pest-control.
- Healthy Eco-systems.
- Beautiful nature.
Let's talk about the cycle:
The butterfly has to complete the four Stages to complete 1 cycle.
Stage 1: The Egg
It's the earliest stage of a butterfly's cycle. The egg has many shapes (round - oval - shaped). It always depends on the butterfly shape and race.
All the eggs are placed on natural plants, as leaves of plants or trees, that depends.
Stage 2: The Caterpillar
Before the butterfly, we see a caterpillar, and it's also called a larva. In this stage the larvae only eats to grow to develop to the third stage.
Caterpillars grow by eating on the same leaf they were born on. They do NOT grow, they MOLT (It's called molting). They eat on the same leaf because the butterfly needs to know where to lay the eggs again.
Stage 3: Pupa (Chrysalis)
When a caterpillar had enough to grow, it forms itself to a pupa.
In the inside of the PUPA happens all the action that leads to the butterfly (the final stage). This action is called metamorphosis . The tissue, the limbs and the organs of a butterfly starts to be formed.
Stage 4: The Butterfly
It is nice to see a Pupa emerge to a Butterfly.
The Butterfly will again lay the eggs on a leaf and the cycle will start all over.
