BEM Unsyiah Tolak Kedatangan Surya Paloh

Darussalam - Student Executive Board (BEM) of Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah) rejected the arrival of Surya Paloh to Unsyiah campus in order to fill the seminar which will be held at Dayan Dawood Unsyiah Academic Activity Center (AAC) building on Friday, May 11, 2018. This refers to the decision of Directorate of Higher Education No. 26 / Dikti / Kep / 2002 on banning the organization of political parties in campus life which reads, "Prohibiting all forms of an extra campus organization and or conducting practical political activity on campus". As such, Surya Paloh is considered not allowed to attend the Unsyiah campus because he is the Chairman of the National Democratic Political Party (NASDEM) and has indirectly engaged in political activities in which he has campaigned for his personality and introduced himself to students, explicitly asked himself or his party to be elected and violated the rules applicable according to Kemenristekdikti regulations. According to Agung Nugraha as Member of the Ministry of Politics, Law, and Security (Polhukam) BEM Unsyiah that everyone has the right to politics. "Everyone is allowed to play politics, but also have to regulate the rules, places, conditions, and time so that we also do not wanttercederainya independence campus for profit," he concluded.
