Ecosia is a free search engine that plants trees every time you search the web. Yep, every time you search for something, Ecosia uses 80% of their ad revenue to better the planet.

All you have to do is add the extension in your browser and use it just like Google! So far, they’ve planted over 17 million trees globally.

By planting trees we can help fight climate change. Trees absorb CO2, which is one of the biggest contributors to global warming. Big forests create clouds, which reflect the sunlight and cool the earth. Forests can also regulate the water cycles and can prevent floods, by creating moisturous microclimates and increasing groundwater levels (basically they act like sponges).

In Indonesia, they’ve worked with locals in Mount Saran, to create economic alternatives to palm oil deforestation, that’s endangering orangutans and the sumatran tiger. So far, they’ve planted over 10 tree species to give local farmers a chance to survive without harming the forests.
