I like the addition of inactive SP to the chart. Many many many users got the feeling, that they don't have any impact on our blockchain and this is absolutely not true. With those diagrams and your good description of the whole situation, they have their invalidation now :P
first thing for that feeling is just a small amount of people and lack of "verification" (maybe not the right word), feeling that stuff is written to the wind. as much we want or don't want to admit we all want our stuff to be seen. that is the reason a lot just don't stick around.

While not ideal, it is a nice step in understanding how things really are.
We have more power than we think, at least on the day-to-day activity that takes place on here. Sure the SP that is inactive can appear at any time but I think, knowing that a lot of the early Whales were investors, that might sit out on the sidelines.
It probably does come into play with Witnesses since they might cast their votes and leave it.
