Another DApp Coming To Steem

There was an interesting post yesterday about a new DApp that was just introduced. This one is, it appears, an upgrade over what was already here.

Memes are a lot of fun while having a huge following. For a while, they were really big on the Steem blockchain. Due to a variety of factors, they seemed to die down.

Now there is an application looking to resurrect this.

Memestagram is the latest app announced on the Steem blockchain and it is focusing upon those Steemians who love Memes. These quick pics with interesting sayings are littered all over the internet. The intention is to have them back on the Steem blockchain.

There is a twist though. This team has some interesting ideas of how to reward content creators in addition to adding in some fun.

Unlike most other applications which reward with standardized upvotes, Memestagram has a lottery system which will determine the amount of upvote one gets. It can be one of 33%, 66%, 77%, or 99%. Whatever is rolled is what is given.

This is given once a day meaning that, as the account gets bigger, the upvote could be fairly significant.

Which brings up another part of their plan. They look at this as the ability to give those interested in Memes a sort of basic income via upvotes. This is in line with the upvote economy where the money comes from upvotes which funds people. It is fairly easy to see how a significant upvote each day for those Steemians who are into Memes can really make a difference.

The Interface is fairly straight forward. People can vote, comment, and find people with similar interests. There is, however, a bit of a twist on the voting.

As it is easy to guess, a heart signifies like, and a poop signifies a dislike for the author’s exquisite sense of humor, although it does not correlate with your SP or affect the post’s payout. Although we have some plans for those who get a big pile of them, but we’ll talk about that later.

Down votes on there do not affect payouts, at least directly. They obviously have something planned so we will have to wait and see what comes out in future updates.

The other interesting aspect to this application it has a full-blown STEEM wallet. It is not simply an interface that allows one to read what is going on with the blockchains.

Some of the things that can be done:

-Send STEEM
-Power up or down your STEEM
-Move STEEM/SBD to and from savings
-Delegate/undelegate your SP
-Claim your post rewards

Here we see another development team pop up and bring an application online. Personally, I had not heard anything about this until I saw the post. It is an interesting idea. I know the Memes were popular when they were on here before although they did create some problems.

I am certainly interested in how they handle the downvoting and monitoring of things. If rewards are not affected, what will alter or deter behavior. They obviously have something in mind which I look forward to reading about.

Judging by the timing, I would not be surprised if an announcement followed about them creating a SMT around this project too.

It will only make sense.
