Age Of Abundance: The Incredible Pace Of Ideas

We are entering a completely new paradigm. The shift that is taking place is going to propel society forward at a pace never seen before.

At the core of this progress are ideas. Specifically, the sharing of ideas and collaboration on projects. This is opening up a new model that will keep compounding the results going forward.

In fact, we see this on the STEEM blockchain. @steemhunt was the first application that I saw decide to fund their project via Steem Power and upvotes. This was a genius idea at the time and one that is being replicated to some degree by each new application.

This one idea is becoming a mainstay on the blockchain. Over time, we will see this concept expand more as others take the base idea and build upon it.

Open and decentralized provides humanity with the ammunition for rapid growth. We are ever moving towards a more digital world. This means the advancements in computing are at the core of what we will see. There are many revolutionary changes that will take place not in a number of decades, but in 10 years.

The Age of Abundance, in my mind, is a system based upon collaboration. For too long, the present system stifled innovation. Patents, copyrights, and the "this is mine" concept ruled. Businesses were built around proprietary ideas that kept the competition at bay. Of course, this kept things in house meaning that outsiders were not fully able to build upon what was already created.

By the middle of the next decade, we will see a doubling of the number of people who are online. This is going to bring another 3.5M minds all with access to the world's knowledge base. What ideas do they come up with?

Throughout this calendar year I have been thoroughly excited about what is taking place on the STEEM blockchain. We saw what I am describing in action. People are collaborating on projects to improve and grow the blockchain. Innovation is taking off with people recommending and sharing thoughts on how to make things better. To me, this is laying the foundation for true abundance on this blockchain.

One of the reasons why many are predicting a radically changing future is because of the idea of convergence. It is easy to look at one particular technology, especially if you are immersed in it, and determine the pace of progress. However, the true power lies in the fact that there are often 3 or 4 technologies influencing each other. For example, the inter-play between 5G, blockchain, AI, and Internet of Things will radically alter things going forward. Individually, these technologies will have a major impact; collectively it is mind-blowing.

We see a similar situation taking place within our own ecosystem. The STEEM blockchain was forked by Jared Rice as part of the dWeb initiative. Some of the applications that are being created are the result of forks of things such as Steemit and busy. This is going to create an enhanced technology that we all will benefit from. As I wrote in the past, many look at this from a competition perspective but I do not believe that to be true. What is created will only enhance what already exists. This is the Age we are in.

With the integration of EOS, STEEM, Bitshares, and some other tokens on dPay, we see a truly decentralized system that requires no third party for swaps. We also will see applications that can read more than one chain. Couple this with the Smart Media Technology on STEEM, and we are seeing progress moving at a radical pace. Of course, this does not take into account the innovation that we will see out of the R&D from the EOS people.

That is the value of open source. And if this can be done with cryptocurrency, who knows what can be done with other DApps as the industry moves forward.

My prediction is the world will be a much different place by 2030. Many of the technologies that I follow will be in full swing by then. Time is an interesting concept. To some, 12 years is a long time and in one way it is. Of course, as we get older, 12 years becomes a lot faster than say, when we were in our 20s. It seems as if time accelerates.

I feel that, at my age, this is not something to worry about. I am very confident that many of the breakthroughs over the next decade will make us healthier while also extending life. We already saw a large increase in life expectancy over the last 100 years. Now, I think we see a similar jump in the next couple decades.

There is a lot to be excited about. Abundance will be the norm going forward. This is a novel concept since we all are reared in a system of scarcity. I can tell you I think those days are going to be behind us very soon. In March, we will see the full rolling out of the Smart Media Token protocol. I do not know the ins and outs of it, but I feel that all of us are going to be creating tokens in the next year. We could be embarking upon one of the greatest financing arms the world have ever seen. Cryto-economics is going to provide billions for an untold number of projects around the world. Imaging a day when a lack of financing does not exist.

It is time that we stop being shy with our ideas. We now are starting to get mechanisms where we can bring them to life. Collaboration is going to be the model that we all operate under. With crypto-economics, we can not only fund the projects, but also provide incentive to all parties involved. This is something that we do not presently see. Rather than having a few profit, we are seeing a path to benefiting all of humanity.

Do not fear the pace of change. It is only to our benefit. Embrace it since it will make all of us better off.
