I love pomegranate, and don't know why we don't grow it somewhere here. But probably because of soil conditions. I've also been trying to find out why we don't grow dates also, but again I believe it might be soil in the right climate. We here on the East Coast of Australia can grow near anything climate being something changeable with a couple of thousand miles facing the Pacific, but the soils are different. In the north we have wonderful volcanic soil that is very productive in some valleys but across the hills some valleys next door barely raise cattle.
