30 days of writing challenge : day #1

Lets talk about Goals and Systems :

I recently just subscribed to "3-2-1" a weekly newsletter from New York's best seller James Clear author of "Atomic Habits"

He some days back he spoke about a very mind blowing eye opening topic and I must say it has changed my view on things and has even caused me to implement it and that is what birthed this right here (the 30day writing challenge).

Goals :-

As James pointed out and he explained his we attach too much expectations to our goals and at the end when it is reached it either causes the person to lose drive , make the person less happier or even still make the person unfulfilled.
Now why is this?
Well , imagine that you are on a two day journey and you come to a road and while on your way , you came across a stream.
Because you are goal driven , you tell your self that you won't drink now but when you get to where you are going which is at this point a day and half away.

---This is a goal driven mindset.

BUT!!!

Systems :-

Imagine the story I just talked about now , and imagine that as the traveller moved he stopped to have some water and maybe even eat and rest on the way.

The major difference in this two things are ... :

The goal is to get to where they are going but time limit was not specified , as it is the later would get to where he's going but maybe a day later but it'll be with a full belly and enough energy.

Looking more closely :

  • The difference in both parties is that one seemed to have had time to predict what to expect on the way and came / go prepared , while the other seemed to forget hat you may need to sleep while travelling.

  • (a.) Another is the fact that the first guy may actually crash and burn out his energy as he rushes to the goal, or to make things more interesting , let's say the goal is to reached the destination in exactly 2days

(b.) The person who plans could easily win just by simply gathering food in preparing for the journey

  • My actual point seems to have been missed but what I am trying to say at this moment is that systems or planing works great when you know what your goal is , this means instead of attaching those emotions and other things , you can firstly come to understand that it's part of the experience , hence the saying by "Arthur Ashe" "success is a journey not a destination "

I shall close here as my goal has been reached for day one...

I just learned a ruthless lesson

I am supposed to complain right now..In fact it was the first word I typed after the mishap, but it won't change what has happened so in order to stick to my plan , I will finish my task.

Thanks to the system I created...my formulae is simple do it before bed at all times and just now I've written over a thousands words.

Adding another favourite word of mine is "When you fail, Fail forward"

-Thanks for being a part of my growth.
Till next time .
Have a good one.
