EFFECTIVE CRISIS IN VENEZUELAN

in #busy6 years ago (edited)
Hello steemian friends, in today's post I want to recount a normal day in the streets of Caracas (downtown) in these times of scarcity, hunger, speculation, anarchy. You get up, you make up and have breakfast (if you have something for it), you go to work, there were almost no vans and in which you could ride you paid twice as much; 5000 Bs. To go down the hill. The subway went free but they stepped on you and pushed you, saw how somebody fainted. You managed to get to the job site, but you exceeded the entry time by two hours and at noon you have to go to the bank to be able to return home and repeat the process the next day. Do you sound familiar? Well, 82% of Caracas also.

Although paper money continues to be printed in an uncontrolled way and generating a hyperinflationary index -which apparently does not take the correct measures from the government for its solution in the medium term- getting cash is as difficult as it is necessary. We suffer a lot from this ordeal and we see with surprise how other people have physical money and exhibit it without reservation.

After seeing the way in which "the ticket is handled" in the Sucre Municipality of Miranda state, I went to Catia with the same strategy; here I must make a paragraph; it is not the same to investigate a phenomenon that involves mafias in Petare than in Catia because in the first, they are not so related to the government. In other words, it is much more dangerous to take a tour investigating these mafia factors in the city -which is almost not done by this safety factor- in Catia than in Petare.
The difference between one place and another is impressive. For this side of the city, the purchasing power is greater and the living conditions "are better". The government "tries" not to diminish so much the quality of life of some that other Catholics, those of January 23 for example. So here circulates more money, more food, more water and more gas than in other areas of Caracas and this translates into more people who can buy.

I went on a long walk trying to pass unnoticed like any other buyer in the place. But something caught my attention; a man had two bales of 100 thousand Bs bills, those same banks only have and think Who has access to this and how is it? How does a person have 20 million in cash if any national bank issues between 40 thousand and 300 thousand Bs at the most?

I continue my way, the sun is unbearable, the food surrounds me wherever I go, from CLAP (subsidized products-imported for only 30% of the polacion), from Mercal (sub-national products for scarce others) and Polar (products manufactured by a private company with regulated prices). Foods that are baled, that is, that were purchased from the largest and that very few people have access to them. Who can buy a bale of rice Mercal whose access is only in the hands of the government?
Somebody announces that "the water arrived" and the police appear to "dismantle the bachaqueros bands" so the turmoil dissolves quickly. It does not disappear, it is sold again a few meters more and with a little caution. I approached a coffee saleswoman: "What happened?" And replied: "The police arrived and now they are all going to store the merchandise in the store; I hope it does not end like the other day, when Falcon arrived (presidential candidate) and wounded one there ... all that night the PNB and the buses were shot and we could not work the next day ". The bills are also present, at the same level as the food, in exaggeration. They are not hidden, they are in CLAP boxes, in transparent and black bags on the floor and in backpacks. The figures of profits are unknown, but if it is speculated, a bale of rice brings 24 units, which are sold at 300 thousand Bs each, or slightly more, which generates a total of 7 million 200 thousand bolivars.

Eggs are another element that arouses mystery; in cash you get between 220 and 260 thousand half a carton, but per point, it is paid between one million and one million four hundred. Other items such as vegetables are better bought with physical money; for example, for a kilo of chili that costs per point between 150 thousand and 300 thousand, it is paid in cash to only 50 thousand Bs., and this is the case with onions, tomatoes, fruits, among others.
Anyway, everything that is bought in cash comes out much cheaper than per point - cigars also apply - and that makes paper money another currency in circulation, whose value is above what it represents and when it is scarce, the mafias seize this merchandise. Gangs that are intimately related to government paramilitary groups. The cash in Catia is not only magical, it is also dangerous.
