Washington, DC - A recent national survey of the United States reveals surprises, especially for scientists. Based on the survey, only 66 percent of people aged 18 to 24 are convinced that the Earth is round - in other words a third millennial considering the Earth's flat matter.

However, the discovery is not merely showing "epidemic" flat earth or flat earth. The reason, only 4 percent of the overall who believe that the Earth is flat.

Quoted from Live Science, Monday (9/4/2018), nine percent of them believe that the Earth round, but lately feel in doubt. Meanwhile, the other 5 percent said they always believed that the Earth was round, but hesitated about that conclusion and the remaining 16 were unsure.

Flat Earth theory erupted around the 19th Century. However, lately the spotlight, mainly due to the influence of social media.

It is difficult to determine exactly how much the Earth is flat. However, the first Flat Earth conference title in the United States in 2017 attracted 500 people.

A recent national survey by YouGov surveyed some 8,125 residents and the results were then weighed to represent the demographics of the US population.

By comparison, 94 percent of those aged 55 and older believed the Earth was round. While the age of 45-54 years by 85 percent, 35-44 years 82 percent, and 25-34 years 76 percent.

The rest, 23 percent of other flat-landers call themselves "somewhat religious," while 25 percent say they are less religious.

While some surveys focus on flat Earth beliefs, other surveys show that Americans are shaky on the fact that is generally taught by the time they reach fourth grade.

A Gallup poll in 1999 found that 18 percent of Americans think the Sun revolves around the Earth, not the other way around.

Meanwhile, Google Trends shows that interest in flat Earth theory has increased over the past few years.
